Going to discover the world and new horizons is ideal for keeping a good mood and a healthy mind. Having a specific time period like summer to do it makes you more effective in whatever nature it is. Montpellier is indeed a prime destination for the summer. In order to better enjoy your stay in this part of the world, it would be good for you to have a list of the main things to see and do. In the summer, there may well be a priority list of things to see to keep the best memories possible.

The royal square located in Peru

In Montpellier, you must visit the Royal Square of Peru. This place is marked by the equestrian statue of Louis XIV, surrounded by formal gardens and has become a very good place for walks. From the end of the square and the Peruvian promenade at the height of the water tower, you can see a panoramic and picturesque view of the whole city and its surroundings. From here you can also observe the 18th century aqueduct which carried water to the city center for 14 kilometers. Taking Roman architecture as a model, it consists of a row of double arches.

On the other side of the Place du Château d’Eau, be sure to visit the Arc de Triomphe (Arc de Triomphe) with the Montpellier guide. It is the gateway to the Écusson region. It was built in the 17th century to commemorate Louis XIV. You can climb to the top of the mountain to enjoy the view of the Peruvian gardens (only via the tourist office).

The oldest medical school

Did you know that the oldest medical school in the West is in Montpellier? Montpellier is one of the cradles of modern medicine and continues to this day, perpetuating this tradition by training hundreds of future doctors every year. You can visit the residence of the Faculty of Medicine during a guided tour organized by the Tourist Office, where you will learn a lot about the medical origins of Montpellier. The highlight of this visit is the School of Anatomy, which is an absolutely fascinating cabinet of curiosities. After visiting the Hunterian Museum in London, you might discover the Montpellier School of Anatomy, which is sure to satisfy your curiosity.

The great historic center of Montpellier

In summer more than ever, the historic center of Montpellier is strongly animated by tourists from everywhere to admire these very surprising premises. In the historic center, especially in the Ekusen district, some of Montpellier’s attractions are concentrated, giving you several places of interest in one place.

Unlike other cities in the south (like Nîmes, Nice or Monaco), the historic center of Montpellier is very large, with beautiful buildings and many quirky little shops, not just big classic brands.
